A rare nine-piece set of antique fruit knives by the Meriden Cutlery Company, beautifully crafted during the late 19th to early 20th century. Each knife features a pale yellow/green floral porcelain handle accented by ornate silver detailing and a finely curved blade stamped “Meriden Cutlery Co. 1855"

Meriden Cutlery Company (1855–1924)
Founded in 1855 by Julius Pratt and D.N. Ropes in Meriden, Connecticut, the Meriden Cutlery Company became known for its finely crafted fruit knives produced through 1924. The company was later acquired by Landers, Frary & Clark.

About the Fruit Knives
These Victorian-era knives reflected the elegance of the time, featuring handles made from mother-of-pearl or bone with sterling silver or silverplate components. Designs ranged from simple and refined to highly ornate, often sold in lined sets of four or six. Most blades were stamped “Meriden Cutlery Co.”, a mark of craftsmanship that endures as a hallmark of 19th-century American cutlery.
